The battery drills use as a base for shrouded orthopedic drills haveadjustable torque settings. While it is advised that the final tightening ofthe screw is performed by hand, much time and effort can saved by powerdriving. Risks are low, particularly in the proximal tibia. To power drive usingthis drill, two hex driver extensions fit into a standard Jacobs chuck. Use 2.5 hex for 2.7, 3.5 and 4.0mm screws and the 3.5 hex for 4.5 and 5.5 screws.
